CEA 2026 – Spanish Astronomy Meeting in Sabadell

The Spanish Astronomy Meeting (CEA) gathers amateur astronomers from all over Spain to share observation techniques, results, and experiences, fostering both collaboration between associations and the public dissemination of astronomy in the last 50 years. CEA congresses are held biennially, boosting the creation of new local associations which, and leading in 2014, to the foundation of the Federation of Astronomical Associations of Spain, which is gathering nowadays 78 associations and more than 8,000 amateur astronomers .
In spite of the amateur original focus, the present relevance and prestige of CEAs among scientific field, is increasingly attracting professional astronomers to collaborative research (Pro-Am) . Improvements in amateur techniques enhanced their contribution to professional astrophysics projects and inspired scientific vocations among young people.
In 2026–2028, Spain will experience three consecutive solar eclipses (two total and one annular), an extraordinary opportunity for outreach astronomy in society.
