Europlanet is organising a planetary-science related art exhibition during EPSC2026, to be held September 6-11 in The Hague, Netherlands at the Amare conference center. The art exhibition will occur in Open Amare, the part of the conference center opened to the public.
The Dutch amateur astronomer community and the EPSC2026 participants are invited to submit artworks to be exhibited for the duration of the conference. Art piece will be printed on 3mm forex or similar material (polystyrene sandwiches between layers of cardboard/paper) – in a size between A2 and A1 depending on the number of submissions. Participants can take the printed copies of their artwork back home at the end of the week. Participants can also propose to bring original art pieces during the conference week (if the location configuration allow for exhibition of the art piece) – all artwork should be exhibited by Monday morning 7th of September at the latest.
Artwork here encompasses for instance, but is not limited to:
- Paintings (traditional (oil, acrylic, watercolour, etc.) or digital) inspired by astronomy
- Illustration works for scientific discoveries
- Astrophotography of planetary bodies
- Sculptures (provided possibility to arrange a display stand)
- Mixed media art
- Collages
- etc.
The only limitation is that the artwork should be related to planetary sciences and the themes tackled by the EPSC2026 congress.
Please note that in case of over subscription, the organising committee reserve the right to operate a selection process to encompass diversity of authors, topics, etc. Priority will be given to the local Dutch amateur astronomer community and the contributors of EPSC session ODAC4 “At the convergence of Art and Science”, and then to participants to EPSC2026. Europlanet members not able to attend EPSC2026 are also encouraged to apply and will be considered if some exhibition spots are still available. File provided in a too low resolution for quality-printing will be automatically discarded.
