EPEC Annual Week 2027

EPEC AW is an annual meeting of early-career planetary scientists based in Europe. The first AW took place in Strasbourg, France 2018 and has since been hosted in 6 cities (and online). EPEC AW is organised for early-careers, by early-careers. It is an excellent opportunity for early-careers to meet fellow researchers around Europe, and experience a tailored programme of science talks, workshops, and cultural excursions. 

The 2027 EPEC AW should be hosted in a European city under the responsibility of a motivated organising committee (OC) led by one EPEC AW Chair. All members of the OC should qualify as early-career*, although additional support from senior researchers and sponsors is very welcome.

Europlanet will provide a budget of 15,000€, which must cover all expenses. Where possible, hosting facilities should be provided by a university or similar research institution in order to minimise the associated costs. Accommodation must be provided for all non-local participants within the available budget. AW usually welcomes 30-40 participants, some of which may be local and will thus not require accommodation.

Applications should consist of detailed answers on the corresponding application form, and potential hosts should be prepared to present a short slide deck detailing expected costs and host facilities.

*”Early-career” includes individuals currently engaged in a study programme, or who have completed their most recent degree no earlier than 7 years ago, excluding breaks due to serious illness, etc. Early-careers are self-identified on a trust basis.
